Collections Officer

Your typical day could start by reviewing rent accounts and contacting tenants to offer advice on managing their arrears. Then, you might have a call with Peabody’s Financial Inclusion team to discuss support options for vulnerable residents. Later, you could be helping a tenant access Universal Credit or preparing the necessary documentation for a court hearing.

As a Collections Officer, you’ll assist  tenants struggling with rent payments. Every day is different, and you’ll play a key role in helping residents manage their rent accounts, sustain their tenancies, and prevent evictions. You’ll work closely with other teams, such as Financial Inclusion and Housing Support, to offer a comprehensive service that helps tenants navigate financial challenges.

You’re a people person who thrives in fast-paced environments. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively across teams and building strong relationships with residents to support them in maintaining their tenancies. You’ll spend part of your time in the office and have the flexibility to work remotely for the rest of the week.

Your role focuses on income collection and arrears management, from making outbound calls to tenants and managing accounts, to guiding tenants through the legal process. If you’re proactive, compassionate, and committed to helping residents stay in their homes, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll spend 1-2 days per week in our Houghton Hall office however this role will be covering Luton and the surrounding areas so you'll need access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence. 
You will be responsible for court attendance and home visits when applicable.

  • Experienced in a customer-facing role, ideally in housing or debt collection
  • Knowledgeable about the welfare system, Universal Credit, and rent arrears management
